Meaning behind the characters

How the Characters Relate to Norse Mythology

Tyr
Tyr is the God of courage in Norse Mythology. I thought this would be an appropriate God for the character to be based on as he is very courageous both in terms of overcoming adversity to live through the trauma of his parents being killed and to survive on he streets and in terms of his willingness to fight for what he believes is right.
Tyr and Fenris
Fenris was a vicious wolf and the offspring of the trickster God Loki's third marriage, along with Hel (the god of death) and Jormungand (the World Serpent). When Loki bought Fenrir to Asgard (the kingdom of the Gods) all the Gods were terrified of the beast, except Tyr. I decided to base my wolf character on Fenris as he is a misunderstood character who first appears to be menacing but if someone is brave enough to trust him will be loyal and not harm them.

Balder
Balder was the most beautiful of all the Gods and the God of light. He was the son of Odin and Frigga who were like the equivalent of Zeus and Hera from Greek Mythology. Balder had a twin brother Hoder who was the God of darkness and was blind. The two brothers were devoted to each other. Balder could read all runes and was a master of herbal medicine so I decided my Balder should be a potions expert. He began to become depressed and concerned with a vision of the future he had seen so Frigga made every object in the world promise to do him no harm but didn't ask Mistletoe as it was deemed to be too soft to injure Balder anyway. I chose to base this character on the God Balder because he is strong physically and therefore pretty invulnerable but everyone has a weakness and my character Balder's is his brother who is weak and relies on him for protection, Balder would do anything for his brother and his enemies will exploit that.

I chose to have Balder's animal partner be a white tiger as they are rare and beautiful animals and cats, to me, have a certain air of beauty and nobility.
