To give myself some idea of how to present my portfolio website I had a look at some websites of artists I like.

First is Jason Chan who recently change his website to a blog type site. It's easy to navigate but personally I thought his previous site was more visually appealing. It had a series of small thumbnails which you could click to get a larger version.

Junko Mizuno has also started using a blog format, a lot of artists seem to be doing this at the moment. While I do have a blog site for my artwork I'd like to have a more formal portfolio too.

Amy Sol has a very simple site, similar to the one that Jason Chan used to have, with small thumbnails which then can be enlarged. I like this as it gives a quick overview of the work and then you can pick which to look at in detail. Amy Sol also now has a blog on her site detailing upcoming prints and things she is working on. I think blogs are a good way of showing what you are working on so I definitely would like to have both a blog and a portfolio. http://www.amysol.com/blog/ and more informal blog at http://dinosaur-bones.tumblr.com/
I think the key thing I have learned from looking at existing sites is that I want to keep things as simple as I possibly can with my site.
