Today I Die is a web based game by Daniel Benmergui.
The game involves the player altering the words of an onscreen poem and then undertaking small sections of simple gameplay in order to change the poem's meaning and allow the spirit of the girl you play as to ascend to the next world.
Through the use of simple visuals, interesting mechanics and emotive music the game really has an emotional impact on you when you play it. The game is very abstract though and I'm certain young players wouldn't really understand it and it's not always clear what you have to do. And while I think this is part of the game's charm, young children would get bored with it fairly quickly.
It's a very different game though and it's very thoughtfully portrayed in a very simple way.
