This is an example of what the protagonist could look like. I wanted to make it fit in with the 
environments in terms of visual style. So I went for a simple cartoon like style with bold outlines.
I also wanted to fit in with the creepy tone of the game.

I decided early on that it would be interesting to have a female protagonist. Although there are many similar games on the market none of them have a female protagonist. So I thought it would be something unique about my game if the main character was a female. I think this would also appeal to female players.

The cat would act as a guide for the player. Similar to Navi from 'The Legend of Zelda' but less intrusive in gameplay. The cat would guide you as to how to play at the start of the game, and as the game progressed it would be there to offer hints to players as to where to search or how to solve puzzles. The player would be able to collect an item in game that could be exchanged for hints. As the guide is a cat maybe it could be something the cat would want like cat food, treats or something like that.
