Elfmage - Jason Chan
This image has very dynamic use of light and colour. The light is coming in directly through the window and bouncing off the wall and pillar. The light is picking up some of the blue tones of the wall and reflecting them in the hair of the figure. There is also light coming from the figure's hands and staff this light is blue like the light bouncing from the walls. There is a small amount of sub-surface scattering in the material of the skirt and sleeves this gives us a feeling of what the clothes are made of and gives them a translucent appearance. The light around the figure's hand is also being reflected in the skin of the hand.
All the blue light and colour tones in the piece give it a very cold feeling.
Summer Skies - Prodigybombay
This piece also has very dynamic use of light but in a very different way. The image has a much warmer feeling to it. This is mainly due to the warm colours coming from the sunset. The yellow and orange tones from the sun are reflected in the clouds and the character's jacket. There is also some sub-surface scattering in the scarf and some of the pink tones are being reflected from the character's hair.
The last time I miss you - Hong Kuang
This piece has a similar feeling to the previous. The light source is the sun setting which is bouncing off the character's clothes and hair and reflecting the yellow tones of the sunlight. Because the sun is setting the sky has a number of pink and purple tones which are causing sub-surface scattering with the clouds giving them the tonal qualities of the sky behind them. The purple and pink tones are also giving the character's skin and clothes a purple tone.
